Meet Laura

Coaching for physicians, surgeons and clinicians navigating complex, high level roles in healthcare systems.

I bring more than three decades of experience in academic medicine, healthcare education, and executive leadership. My passion is to support clinicians who are stepping into leadership roles and help them lead with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Leadership is not something clinicians are taught… yet it is something they are expected to do well.

Throughout my career, I have worked closely with hospitals, academic medical centers, and healthcare leaders to support the fulfillment of complex clinical, educational, and institutional missions.

I have seen firsthand how Hospital Service Chiefs, Vice Chairs, Program Directors, and senior clinicians are often promoted to C-suite positions based on clinical excellence, then asked to make high-impact leadership decisions in real-time, while continuing to manage patient care, research, and teaching responsibilities. Over time, this dual responsibility can create stress, uncertainty, and a sense of leading without a clear framework.

My work is grounded in the belief that clinician leaders deserve thoughtful, individualized support as they navigate these challenges.

Professional Background

Trained as a clinical social worker with advanced degrees in leadership development and education modalities, I bring my listening skills, empathetic caring, and personalized approaches to each project I lead.

As a Doctor of Social Work (DSW), I have over 36 years of experience, most of those years as Senior Vice President of the Education Institute and Global Partnerships at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), leading initiatives with hospitals and major academic centers domestically and world-wide. At HSS, I was one of the first in the field of orthopedics to recognize that digital learning would be a major part of education and training, leading to building HSS eAcademy, a learning platform.

As Associate Professor in Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College for over three decades, I teach Qualitative Methodology and I am a mentor to research scholars at Weill Cornell’s Health Services and Epidemiology Program.

My work has spanned development of patient education programs to leading national accredited programs for medical students, residents and fellows as well as developing accredited programs for physicians and allied health professionals seeking to enhance their clinical skills.

I have lectured around the world, have numerous publications, was chair of the board of trustees for a major non profit foundation, and have received national leadership awards.
